Andrea Smith MS, RD, RYT

"Yoga with Andrea Smith has profoundly changed my life. Her intuition and respect for the natural intelligence of the body take yoga to a whole other level."
- Lauren Cerand, Yoga Student

Andrea Smith offers yoga instruction in a nurturing environment, which is designed to encourage the body’s innate healing potential. She brings more than 20 years of practice in various yoga techniques.

A certified and registered Kripalu yoga teacher, registered dietitian, Reiki therapist, and certified Circlework practitioner, Andrea provides a balance of traditions to alternative well-being.

From her own experience of having to surmount chronic fatigue syndrome,
multiple chemical sensitivities, and osteoarthritis, Andrea dedicates
herself to yoga for persons suffering from chronic pain and people
recovering from stress-related illness, in a gentle, patient manner.

Whether a beginning student or an advanced student of yoga, Andrea
openly welcomes all people.

To supplement her Kripalu training and enrich her teaching, Andrea has completed over 500 hours of training in the Svaroopa yoga method and recently completed an
Iyengar-based yoga certification with Francois Raoult.

In addition to her work as a founder of Sunrise Yoga Center in downtown
Ithaca since 1997, Andrea has offered yoga thru the Lansing Parks and
Recreation Department since November 2002. She served as the yoga
instructor at the Cortland YWCA 1997 – 2000, and at Courtside Racquet
and Fitness 1995-2000. Andrea also has provided classes for the Kripalu
Yoga Center of Northern New York since 1992 and she is the primary yoga
instructor at the Cayuga Heights Center for Wellness & Healing Arts, a
multipractitioner health facility located in the Community Corners
Shopping Plaza, Ithaca.
